Reason #102020 why this show was a huge letdown: This storyline was never fully explored and textually it actually seems like we’re supposed to agree that those people are oppressing themselves. Korra’s actions are never actually called out after this and her attitude toward the non-benders don’t really change.
“You’re our Avatar, too.”
Except not really. At least she never shows it because apparently everything was perfect again once Amon was defeated and the Equalists just seemingly went away and all the non-benders just stopped giving a shit about not having a member in the biggest political body in the city or people in the police department etc.
If it didn’t sound so much like this plot will just be dropped for Season 2, I wouldn’t have minded, but S2 is all about spirits and shit so yeah.

Korra galore!
It’s a Korrasami kind of day.
(45 min biro + 1.5 hr color)By the way, I’ve officially started selling my biro sketches! You can find info on how to grab your favorites here.
Mary:
This is another unresolved plot point in the Legend of Korra. It is clear from the get go that Korra’s self worth is all connected to her bending. That isn’t right. The White Lotus didn’t teach her to have self worth as a human being. It was all about being the Avatar and being the Bridge Between Worlds and nothing to do about her individuality. I was hoping Bryke would go into this and have her learn that Korra doesn’t NEED bending to have value, but no. They just left it unresolved and gave Korra her bending back in the end without her doing anything to earn it.
Korrasami pin-ups. Sort of :D;;;
(45 and 20 min. respectively)
So, I basically want to color all of my pen sketches lately, but I have no time. Maybe I’ll color these tomorrow…
There sure are many problems going around in Republic City. Oh boy, I can’t wait to see what Korra’s going to do about
- “I thought everyone in this city was living it up.” -Korra
- Social/economic gaps, anyone?
- CHILDHOOD HOMELESSNESS??
- Protests that might…
